Bladder Health - Alternative ways to ease the symptoms of bladder infection

It always makes sense to do what you can to help your body to heal - Waterfall D-Mannose gets rid of the E.coli, so stops the infection rather than just easing the symptoms, but you may have already been damaged by the infection, or by antibiotic treatments.

We suggest that you take a couple of these herbal preparations 3 to 4 times a day during an infection, together with your Waterfall D-Mannose : (Anna has used most of these and found them to be helpful in treating the symptoms, although on their own they won't clear up the infection). You may have to experiment to find out what works best for you. Use as a tea made from sufficient of herb the in a cup of hot water; or as a tincture. You can empty the capsules into an ordinary cup of tea also. Use three per time. Don't go over the top with them, because they are expensive, and it's not always true that more is better. Some herbs can be powerful drugs in their own right. They should be used with caution.

Uva Ursi — Traditionally used as an antiseptic with soothing properties.

Goldenseal root — Acts as a powerful natural antibiotic, so may upset your digestion, but worth a try.

Cleavers (Galium Aparine) — An old herbalist's remedy for urinary infections.

Marshmallow root (Althea Officinalis) — Very soothing properties. It works best if you can get it fresh, (liquidise it with some apple juice) but the dried root also works. Soak it in cold water several hours, then strain and drink.

Buchu — Soothing diuretic and antiseptic for the urinary system. A lot of proprietary 'cures' contain Buchu.

Horsetail (Equisetum Arvense) — An astringent and mild diuretic with healing properties. Again, use as a tea. Don't take too much, as it could leave you feeling sick.

Usnea Lichen — Soothing and antiseptic, this tea can help ease the pain and heal a damaged bladder lining.

Corn silk (Zea Mays) — Soothing, diuretic. It may help you to pass water, so can be good for damaged kidneys.
